VISION AND RULES

VISION

The Midwest American Amateur Golfers Tour (M.A.G.G.T), is a golfer organization with the intent and interest of providing organized golf tournaments on a weekly basis, for golfers of all ages, sex and skill levels.

COURSE AND PAY

  • Players must check-in at the golf course to pay their greens fees. Players must check in with group lead to pay tournament fees for the event.
  • Players should report to the starting tee at least 5 minutes prior to their assigned tee time. If a player is no at the starting point, ready to play, at the assigned tee time, he/she is in breach of (Rule 6-3).
  • All players must start the tournament with not more than 14 clubs. Penalty for breach of (Rule 4-4), Stroke play - Two (2) strokes each hole at which the breach occurred; maximum penalty per round - four (4) strokes.
  • Please keep up pace of play through out the tournament. The number one rule of thumb is keep up with the group in front of you! If a group is out of position due to slow play, the following procedure will be followed:
    • The group shall play 'Ready Golf', Forgoing honors.
    • The group shall use continuous putting while on the green. (Rule 10-1b,2b).
    • Each player shall hole out prior to the next player starting to put (if possible).
  • To avoid undue delay, and to speed the pace of play, If a ball is lost or out of bounds you may drop within two (2) club lengths of the point where the ball entered and no closer to the hole. A one (1) stoke penalty is assessed. No distance penalty is assessed.
  • Double par - A player must take no more than Double Par on any hole. Once Double par is reached, a player should pick up and resume play on the next hole.
  • Birdies and Pars must must be putted out. Putts for Bogey and over are good if they are within the grip of a regular length putter. Use the shortest putter in the group to measure.
  • Local rule applies to play of the ball. Preferred lies in the fairway. Players may roll the ball with club only - no more than one (1) scorecard length. Players may not move the ball in the hazards, or if their ball is in the rough.
  • Each golfer is responsible for the correctness of his score on the scorecard. The scorecard should be attested and signed by all players in the group. In attesting the scorecard, the player is stating that the score for each individual hole during the round is correct. Turn in the scorecards immediately to the scorers table after finishing your round. Each player should be available for a reasonable amount of time to answer any questions by tournament officials in the event that a ruling is required.

EVENT RULES

All events are stroke play. Each player will play their own ball each shot.

  • LOW NET

    - Each player will use their total gross score, minus their handicap.
  • LOW GROSS

    - Each player will use their total gross score.
  • RABBIT & SQUIRREL

    - Rabbit & Squirrel is scored according to Birdies and Pars made by all golfers. . Rabbit and Squirrel is scored as follows:
    • At the start of play the Rabbit, squirrel or eagle is running loose. If two golfers Par the same hole, all tie and the hole is pushed
    • RABBIT - Players may win a leg of the Rabbit by having the only "Par" on a hole. That player would be in control of the Rabbit. That player will keep a leg or control of the Rabbit as long as they make par and no one else does. If player with control or leg of the Rabbit does not make par on a hole and another player does make par, the player with control or leg of the rabbit will lose control of the rabbit and the rabbit will be running loose again.
    • SQUIRREL - Squirrel/Eagle are played the same as Rabbit. A player must win the hole with Birdie/Eagle to take possession of the Squirrel/Eagle leg.
    • Rabbits are worth one dollar ($1.00) from each player, Squirrels are worth two dollars ($2.00) from each player, Eagles are worth three dollars ($3.00) from each player in the game.
  • FRONT / BACK / TOTAL

    - The lowest Net score on the Front, the Back and the Total will get a one dollar ($1.00) from each golfer playing that day.
  • STABLEFORD

    - Scoring will be by points based on the golfers Net score. Points will be awarded as follows:
    • Eagle = 4
    • Birdie = 3
    • Par = 2
    • Bogey = 1
    • Double Bogey or more = 0
    The player with the highest total of points will be declared the winner.
  • 2 MAN BEST BALL

    - This is a stroke play team tournament. Teams will be made up of two players, matched up by their handicaps. (The lowest handicap player will be matched with the highest handicap player and so on, until all golfers are matched up. If there is an odd player he will be matched up with the par score for the course). Each player will play his own ball throughout the the round. After each whole players will record their score on their score card. At the bottom of the score card the team will record the lowest net score for the team. The lowest net score of the paired players will win the tournament.
  • BLIND DRAW DOUBLES

    - This is a stroke play team tournament. Teams will be made up of two players, matched up by a random draw at the end of play. Each player will play his own ball throughout the the round. Each players will record their score, at the end of play each players Net score will be added to gether for a team total. The team with the lowest total net score will be the tournament winners.
  • CLOSE TO PIN

    (Optional) - Close-to-pin games are optional. On the par 3 holes, golfers will mark the shot that is closest to the pin. If that mark holds up, that player is the closet to the pin winner. Prize fund for Closest To Pin will be divided up evenly among those that have marked on each green. Money will be divided according to the greens that were marked during play.
  • SKINS

    (Optional) - Skin games are optional. Players will use their gross score for each hole with the best score of the hole, par or better, will win a skin for that hole. Prize fund for Skins will be divided up evenly among those that have won a skin(s) during play.
